Role

The Halliday Foundation is looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the charity through its next stage of development. 

We are based at Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, a community hub in Glasgow’s East End offering over 60 opportunities for local people to connect, learn, volunteer and access support. The centre is also home to Reidvale Café, a welcoming place for people to meet and enjoy affordable food. 

Our work includes Houses2Homes, community meals, children’s activities, wellbeing groups and learning opportunities. Across everything we do, our aim is to build community, fight poverty and tackle homelessness. 

The role 

As Treasurer, you will help the Board understand the charity’s finances and make informed decisions. You will: 

• Attend Board meetings on the second Monday of each month.
• Spend some time between meetings reviewing financial information and budgets.
• Produce clear finance reports for the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive.
• Help the Board oversee financial controls, reserves, risks and longer-term planning.
• Offer financial insight and constructive advice as the charity develops its services.

The Foundation uses Xero for its accounting. The Treasurer is a trustee who provides financial oversight and reports to support the Board’s decisions. 

About you 

We would welcome applications from people with experience in finance, accounting, budgeting or financial management. Charity finance experience and familiarity with Xero would be helpful, but neither is essential. 

You should be comfortable examining financial information, explaining the key points in plain language and working collaboratively with trustees and the Chief Executive. Previous trustee experience is not required. 

Time commitment 

The Board meets once a month, on the second Monday of each month. The Treasurer will also need to spend some hours between meetings checking finances and budgets and preparing reports. We can discuss the expected commitment in more detail with interested applicants.
