Role

Want to help tackle inequality and expand access to justice in Scotland?

LSA is seeking new Trustees to join our Board of Directors. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our new 2025–2028 Strategy and help shape the future of one of Scotland's leading law centres.

For more than 35 years, LSA has provided legal advice and representation to people facing poverty, disadvantage and discrimination. We also play a significant role in legal education, research and training, helping to advance social justice across Scotland.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in:

  • Finance, accountancy, audit or financial management
  • Cyber security, information governance or digital risk
  • Artificial intelligence, digital transformation or technology strategy or governance
  • Lived experience of poverty, discrimination, disability, migration, housing insecurity or barriers to justice
  • Fundraising, income generation or business development
  • HR, organisational development or people management
  • Senior leadership, governance or organisational transformation

Whether you are an experienced professional, community leader, or someone with lived experience who wants to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

Previous Board or Trustee experience is not essential. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and will provide induction, support and training. LSA is committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve.

We would also be pleased to hear from applicants who might, over time, wish to contribute to Board leadership roles — including Treasurer or Chair — as part of our ongoing succession planning.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. The Board meets approximately six times a year, with opportunities to participate in Sub-Committees and support LSA's strategic development.

Further information about LSA and the role of Trustee can be found in our Recruitment Pack below. Our Chief Executive, Aaliya Seyal, would be delighted to speak with prospective applicants before they submit an application and answer any questions about LSA, the Board and the Trustee role.
