Role

Edinburgh Pentlands Parish Church of Scotland is looking for a part-time Church Administrator to replace our previous Administrator who recently retired. The successful applicant will provide administrative support to the ministry team, volunteers and members of the church community. This will include acting as a point of contact for the Church, managing correspondence, records, communications, hall bookings, Church service presentations and other administrative tasks. The Church Administrator will also supervise our existing Administrative Assistant who works 8 hours per week and assists with these tasks.

The recently united Edinburgh Pentlands Parish Church comprises buildings in Colinton and Juniper Green which are neighbouring villages on the Water of Leith in South-West Edinburgh. The church is outward looking with strong community links and a vibrant community café – The Swing Café – open 5 days per week. The Church Administrator will join a small team committed to engaging positively with the public, providing pastoral support and managing excellent facilities which are used by the wider community. Earlier this year we were delighted to welcome our new Minister Callum MacFarlane-Grieve who is bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to our Church.

Person Specification – the successful applicant will have: 

• excellent written and verbal communication skills

• an ability to work collaboratively with both staff and volunteers

• strong IT skills and be fully proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite

• resourcefulness, ability to use initiative, and to be proactive to seek out information

• and if possible, ability to update website and social media, or willingness to learn 

This is a permanent part-time post starting from a mutually agreed date in autumn 2026 and with a 15 hour working week. The salary will be £11250 per annum with an annual review. The exact weekly working pattern is negotiable but should be spread over Tuesday- Friday each week, with hours ideally including 10am - noon on each of those four days.
