Role

We’re Hiring: Product‑Focused Woodworker (2‑Year Post)

Help Us Shape the Future of Glasgow Wood

Glasgow Wood is on a mission to strengthen our organisation, boost our trading income, and build a more sustainable future — and we’re looking for a skilled, creative woodworker to help make it happen.

About the Role

We face a clear challenge: seasonal dips in income during autumn and winter. Your job will be to help us turn that challenge into opportunity.

As our dedicated Product Development Woodworker, you will:

• Design and develop new products that appeal to customers during our quieter trading periods

• Work closely with our Volunteer Development Worker to involve a diverse range of volunteers

• Support volunteers to build confidence, skills, and hands‑on experience

• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to identify product ideas that strengthen our income year‑round

• Contribute to a more resilient, sustainable organisation

This is a two‑year role giving you the time and space to make a real impact.

Role Details

We are offering an annual salary of £21,850 for a 28-hour week. The role reports to the Managing Director and is based at our South Street Workshop.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a community‑driven organisation with a strong social purpose. Your creativity and craftsmanship will directly support our long‑term sustainability, while helping people develop skills and feel more connected.

Our board will regularly review progress — from sales and profitability to volunteer impact — ensuring we stay on track and continue to grow stronger together.
