Role

Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire SCIO is a dynamic local charity and the Third Sector Interface working to make East Renfrewshire a better place to live, work and do business. From climate action awareness, volunteer programmes, capacity supports and wellbeing activities, we deliver projects that promote inclusion, sustainability and community wellbeing.

Job Role

The purpose of the role is to support the development of a mixed tenure, place based community regeneration approach in Craigheads, Barrhead as part of East Renfrewshire Council’s A Place to Grow vision, through strong community engagement and participation.

The postholder will focus on working directly with communities, enabling residents, tenants, community groups and local organisations to shape regeneration priorities, inform decision making and participate in regeneration activity

The postholder will build and maintain effective working relationships with communities, voluntary and third sector organisations, Council officers and other partners to ensure regeneration activity is informed by lived experience and community insight.

We are looking for a proactive and confident individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You will lead community engagement activities, support colleagues and partners to connect with diverse audiences, and help build positive relationships, encourage participation, and strengthen community involvement in the Craigheads area of Barrhead.

Key Tasks

Working within the Capacity Support Team, the wider Voluntary Action staff and management team, you will:

• Plan, deliver and support a range of community engagement and participation activities linked to a regeneration pilot (e.g. outreach, workshops, co design sessions and community events).

• Build trusted relationships with residents, community representatives, tenants, local groups and anchor organisations.

• Enable communities to identify local priorities, assets and opportunities and to meaningfully contribute to regeneration activity.

• Act as a link between communities, the voluntary/third sector and Council services, ensuring community perspectives inform regeneration planning.

• Work collaboratively with Council officers (including Housing, Planning and related services) to share community insight and feedback.

• Support partnership working with voluntary and third sector organisations involved in regeneration and community development.

• Ensure communication and engagement activity is inclusive, accessible and proportionate.

• Capture, summarise and present community feedback, outcomes and qualitative impact.
