Role
Granny Mutch is a charity shop and community space based in the heart of Lochwinnoch. We launched this project in May 2026 and it has already become a social hub offering affordable items and keeping quality goods out of landfill. It also generates income which goes back into our other charitable projects which include Lochwinnoch Community Larder, Diggin’ It Seed Libraries and Lochwinnoch Feel Good Festival. This role is a brilliant opportunity to join a friendly team at an exciting stage of development. The role will involve some lifting and require periods of time where you will be standing while on-shift. You will be supervising a Team of volunteers and working directly with the public.
Offering volunteering opportunities is as important as any other part of our work, and a focus of this role will be managing and developing those individuals to ensure the work is meaningful and their development is prioritised.
- This role is offered at £27144 FTE.
- Benefits include 6% workplace pension and 35 days holiday (pro rata) per annum.
- The contract is for 6 months initially, with the expectation that it will be extended on the basis of performance and funding availability.
- Hours of work will be 24 per week. While the majority of hours will be daytime, there will be some weekend working required.
DUTIES:
- Day-to-day facilitation of retail service;
- Opening up shop
- Managing stock
- Sorting donations
- Serving customers
- Replenishing shops floor & visual merchandising
- Cash handling and cashing up
- Supervising team of volunteers across varied duties as above
- Carrying out volunteer inductions and on-the-job training
- Promoting service on social media and updating website
- Building relationships locally with other groups and organisations
- Assisting with occasional events and workshops
- Being responsible for facilities on-site relating to the project and its assets
- Identifying, developing and delivering opportunities for mini-projects and community participative events
- General administrative and practical duties
REQUIREMENTS:
For this role we are seeking someone with a stable work history. You need to be able to manage your own tasks and workload independently, lead a team, and respond to changing circumstances and challenges effectively. It is a people-focussed role; spending time with members and volunteers and creating a friendly and inclusive environment is of primary importance. You should have:
Essential requirements:
- Supervisory experience
- Strong organisation and communication skills, demonstrated through previous employment history
- Eligibility for PVG scheme (enhanced criminal records check)
- A willing and positive attitude and the ability to follow and develop processes
Desirable requirements:
- Experience of working with volunteers in a community project
- Retail experience
- Clean driving licence and your own transport
