Role
Lead Finance. Shape Futures. Transform Lives.
At Quarriers, we believe in creating opportunities for people to live the life they choose.
We’re looking for a strategic, values-driven finance leader to join us as Head of Finance - someone who can combine strong financial expertise with a genuine passion for social justice and making a difference.
This is more than a finance role. It’s an opportunity to influence the direction of a national social care charity, lead and develop a talented finance team, and support services that change lives every day.
About Us
Quarriers is one of Scotland’s leading social care charities, with over 150 years of experience supporting children, adults, and families.
Our work spans the country—supporting people with disabilities, young people, individuals experiencing homelessness, those living with epilepsy, and carers. Everything we do is rooted in our commitment to challenging poverty, reducing inequality, and delivering compassionate, person-centred support.
Your new opportunity
As Head of Finance, you will play a key leadership role within Quarriers - working closely with the Director of Finance & Corporate Services to shape financial strategy, strengthen organisational performance, and ensure we can continue to deliver high-quality services.
This is a senior leadership role with significant people management responsibility, where you will lead and develop a skilled finance function and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of financial strategy aligned to our mission and long-term goals
- Work in close partnership with the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, contributing to organisational direction and decision-making
- Provide direct leadership, support, and development to two Senior Finance Managers and the Payroll Manager, ensuring strong performance, alignment, and progression
- Lead the wider finance team, building capability and supporting a positive, inclusive team culture
- Oversee all financial operations, ensuring robust systems, controls, and governance
- Provide clear, insightful financial reporting to support strategic decision-making
- Drive improvements to financial systems, processes, and ways of working
- Contribute to commercial activity, including contracts, funding, and tenders
- Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leaders across the organisation
This role is central to ensuring both financial sustainability and strong, values-led leadership within the finance function.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who brings both professional expertise and strong, people-centred leadership.
You will have:
- Significant experience in financial management, including budgeting, cashflow, and reporting
- Experience working in complex organisations, ideally within the charity, public, or social care sectors
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams, including managing senior staff
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style, with the ability to motivate, influence, and build capability in others
- Experience contributing to strategic decision-making at a senior level
- Confidence presenting financial information to senior stakeholders
- A recognised accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent) is desirable, however we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the experience, leadership capability, and impact required for the role.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car is required.
