Role
Scottish Autism’s vision is an inclusive world where difference is embraced and autistic people thrive. Established in 1968 by a group of parents, the organisation has gone from strength to strength and is now the largest provider of autism specific services in Scotland as well as being a leading authority and advocate for good autism practice.
Scottish Autism has its own innovative Centre for Practice, Policy & Research and we have a strong national and international reputation for our expertise and change-making approach.
Two new trustees are needed to strengthen and contribute to our existing board and support our management team, in realising our charitable objectives and strategic priorities.
We will provide tailored support and development for new trustees, and you will also work alongside a number of experienced Board Members who can share learning and experience.
Successful candidates will have some of the desirable criteria noted below:
- Strategic financial planning experience including financial management and compliance
- Strategic people/human resource experience
- We welcome applications from autistic people and/or people with lived experience
Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to undertake the following:
- At least six Board meetings per year (typically Tuesday afternoons in Alloa)
- One annual review meeting with the Chair
- To sit on one Board Committee which meets quarterly (if possible)
- To promote, attend and support Scottish Autism events
- To represent and be an ambassador for Scottish Autism

The initial process will involve an informal chat with the CEO followed by an interview with Board members. Dates will be arranged by mutual consent.
