Role
Mindspace is seeking motivated and experienced Young People’s Counsellors to join our established counselling service, delivering professional, supportive counselling within school settings across Perth City and Rural Perth & Kinross.
This role involves supporting children and young people aged 10–18, with some work also supporting P6 and P7 pupils within the wider community.

About the Role
As a Young People’s Counsellor, you will:
- Deliver a professional one to one counselling service within school settings
- Provide counselling to children and young people presenting with a range of emotional and mental health needs
- Undertake assessments, plan and deliver therapeutic interventions, and review progress
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records, statistics, and school reporting documentation using Salesforce CRM
- Practice in accordance with BACP ethical frameworks, safeguarding, and child protection procedures
- Work closely with the Senior Counsellor to ensure consistent standards and service quality
- Liaise appropriately with school staff, admin colleagues, and partner organisations
- Attend wellbeing meetings and engage fully in supervision and reflective practice
- Contribute to service development and ongoing improvement
Person Specification
Essential
- A recognised counselling diploma
- Specialist training in counselling children and young people
- Current membership of BACP or COSCA
- Experience providing therapeutic counselling to children and young people
- Ability to work within a recognised theoretical framework
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and child protection in youth or school settings
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage a counselling caseload
- Willingness to travel between schools as required
Desirable
- Experience of working within school environments
- Experience liaising with partner agencies or multidisciplinary teams
