Role

Who we are:

Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see every child and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity, with around 135 staff and over 2,500 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, and churches.

We are seeking a part time Regional Worker to join our Local Ministries Team to develop SU Scotland’s ministry in Ayrshire working alongside our established School’s Ministry Co-ordinator.  This is as part of the Local Ministries’ West Team, which includes Lanarkshire, Glasgow, East & West Dumbartonshire, Argyle & Bute, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To bring together local ministry hubs, building relationships with churches, schools, young people and potential volunteers as well as developing those existing relationships to help build our schools’ ministry
  • To grow involvement in our residential work regionally and nationally, in missions and holiday clubs
  • To develop ministry partnership for this post, for prayer and financial support

Who we are looking for:

The successful applicant will have experience of schools' work and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; someone who has led teams of volunteers and is a confident communicator of Biblical truth with a wide range of young people. You should be based within easy reach of Ayrshire and be prepared to support SU Scotland’s ministry in all parts of the region.

For this post, it is important that you able to demonstrate a commitment to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
