Management Board
Hybrid: Glasgow

Advertised from 8 September 2025

Role

The Glasgow School of Art Students' Association (GSASA) is seeking to appoint new External Trustees to our Board of Trustees. This is a fantastic opportunity for dynamic and committed individuals to help shape the future of one of Scotland's most creative and vibrant student communities.

As an External Trustee, you will play a critical role in GSASA, providing strategic direction, ensuring robust governance, and helping us to achieve our charitable aims. You will work alongside a dedicated team of students, elected officers, and external trustees, bringing your unique skills and experience to the table to support and empower the students of The Glasgow School of Art.

We are a student-led charity that exists to represent, support, and empower our members. We provide a range of services, from academic representation and welfare support to a vibrant social programme and commercial services. This is an exciting time to join GSASA as we continue to develop and grow, and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about the positive impact a students' association can have on the lives of students.

We are particularly seeking applications from individuals with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Strategy
  • Financial Management
  • Legal & Governance

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a commitment to our values of being respectful, supportive, rewarding, progressive, and student-led. You will have a strong understanding of good governance and a genuine desire to make a difference.

This is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. The time commitment is approximately 0.5-1 days per month, which includes attending Board meetings (a combination of in-person and online meetings), away days, and other events. The term of office is three years, with the possibility of renewal for a second term.
