Role
Organisational Profile:
Since 1998, Into Work has provided Supported Employment, helping disabled people and people with long-term health conditions find, build and maintain great jobs. We work towards a world where disabled people and people with long-term health conditions have equal opportunity to take up employment and receive fair treatment in work. For more info, visit www.intowork.org.uk
Background/Context:
Sustainable and fair work for disabled people is at the heart of Into Work’s mission. For some people, the idea of working or engaging with employment support can feel unachievable and seem like an unrealistic prospect. To address this, at Into Work we have included wellbeing support in all our Supported Employment Services. This additional intervention helps encourage people to take those first steps towards making sustainable employment a reality.
Project:
Wellbeing+ aims to help people build self-confidence, develop coping strategies as well as their own capacity around self-management, throughout their supported employment journey with us. Running successfully since March 2021, Into Work are keen to keep developing this project as part of our overall service offer. It will also help build the capacity and continue to develop the quality of Into Work’s employment service offer, developing stronger links and pathways with health and other community agencies which current and potential clients will benefit from. Our Wellbeing+ advisory group of volunteers who all have lived experience of disability have been integral to the design of this project.
Overall Purpose of the Job:
Continuing the development and delivery of Wellbeing+ in support of all Into Work services. Working in collaboration with our other Wellbeing Coach our Wellbeing+ team of volunteers and our front-line advisers. Adapting to support and facilitate new wellbeing projects as they evolve and come onstream.
Offering facilitated group and lead in 1:1 sessions to people experiencing a range of barriers to work such as: anxiety, depression, or other mental health conditions, trauma, debt, poverty, isolation, family and other social relationships, supporting people to join our groupwork spaces.
Developing and building existing pathways to encourage appropriate referrals and signposting or referring people to external interventions or specialist services when required.
Using knowledge of wellbeing interventions and considering how these can support a client’s employability journey, working closely with Into Work colleagues to identify progression routes.
To be focused and drive Wellbeing+ forward. Employing an adaptable and flexible communication style, using knowledge of barriers to work faced by disabled people. Understanding why people looking for employment may need wellbeing intervention.
Supporting the emotional journey which people with complex barriers experience during their initial steps towards work. Using a holistic, person-centred approach which doesn’t favour any particular therapeutic input.
An understanding of the impact of poor mental health would be highly valued.
