Role

Care and Repair Scotland is a registered charity providing support, guidance and other services to the local care and repair services across Scotland. We strive to ensure not only the voices of those teams but also the needs of their client groups are heard in national forums and groups, influencing policy and strategy, as well as working with other organisations and charities to evidence, evaluate and reflect on the crucial need for care and repair services. 

We are looking for new members with a range of skills and qualities to join our Board of Directors responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, financial performance and compliance of Care and Repair Scotland. 

As part of our commitment to diversity and equality, we welcome interest from a wide range of backgrounds who are committed to our objectives and keen to help guide and support our next phase of growth and strategic development. We would be particularly keen to hear from people with relevant experience related to care and repair, housing, governance, finance, information and data who have the skills and commitment to play an active part in driving the organisation forward, supporting and developing our reputation. We also recognise that diversity enriches the work we do and encourage applications from suitably experienced individuals that reflect the breadth and diversity of the communities we serve, as well as those with protected characteristics.

The post is currently non-remunerated however reasonable expenses incurred performing the role will be reimbursed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the strategic direction of Care and Repair Scotland
  • Provide support and management to the National Director
  • Ensure effective governance and oversight
  • Commitment to attend Board meetings 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven leadership at charity trustee or non-executive director level
  • Strategic thinker with strong governance skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Passion for improving outcomes for our client groups
  • Collaborative approach and the ability to establish good working relationships with other Directors
  • An understanding of public and / or third sector, and political awareness
