Role

About Refuweegee

Refuweegee is a community led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive. It was founded December 2015. We strive to ensure that people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland to a warm welcome, and are provided with some of the things that will help them to feel at home here.

About the role

As a registered Charity, Refuweegee is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of Refuweegee. Trustees ensure that Refuweegee is financially sound, complying with our legal obligations and continuing to uphold our vision and values. We are currently seeking additional Trustees to support the organisation as we settle into our new premises and expand our support services.

Refuweegee’s Board normally meets quarterly on Fridays, either face-to-face in our Glasgow office, via Teams, or as a hybrid of the two. Board meetings are typically scheduled for 2 hours. We encourage Trustees to engage with the organisation informally outside of Board meetings through the wide range of volunteering opportunities available.

Applicants with experience of HR and Organisational Development, and those with lived experience as a forcibly displaced person are particularly welcome to apply. Whilst previous or current experience of third sector governance would be helpful, it is not essential.

Application notes

To apply, please supply a CV including any relevant experience and a supporting statement explaining why you would like to apply for the role.

The supporting statement can be in written format (maximum 500 words) or in a video (maximum 3 minutes in length). CVs and supporting statements should be emailed to recruitment@refuweegee.co.uk

The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 11th August 2025.

We will review applications after these dates and invite shortlisted applicants for an interview.
