What you’ll do
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Employability Keyworkers to join our Employability team which delivers accredited industry training and support to members of the local and wider community to access further education, training and/or employment. You will work closely with the Employability Manager and across the team to ensure high-quality employability support and programme delivery to achieve individual aims for participants across the employability pipeline.
You will provide holistic support to young people and adults that will minimise barriers to employment and offer training to increase skills, development, and support access to further training, and education to allow people to move on to sustained progressions along the employability pipeline.
As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Designing, delivering, and evaluating training for young people and adults that supports sustained progressions into further education, training, employment, or re-engagement in schools.
- Establishing relationships with key stakeholders including, SDS, local colleges, GCC and local retailers at Glasgow Fort, promoting the employability programme and representing FARE Scotland at external events.
- Liaising with employers to identify job opportunities, and further training or education opportunities within the employability pipeline to meet recruitment targets and outcomes for our Youth Action Fund and Training for Work programmes.
- Designing all referral/induction and training materials and providing an induction and assessment to all participants to identify holistic support to remove barriers.
- Recruitment for programmes and ensuring programme evaluations are completed.
- Undertaking one-to-one goal setting interviews and reviews.
- Delivering training in group settings, using a range of learning materials to accommodate different learning styles.
- Challenging negative attitudes and behaviours whilst motivating individuals to retain focus.
- Ensuring Employability programme trainees get the support that they require to help them remain engaged, focused and progress to their identified goals.
- Supporting participants’ further education and job search activities, personal development, goal setting, identifying, and overcoming barriers, CV development, completing applications, interview skills, and accredited qualifications.
- Providing 52-week post-employment support to achieve sustained employment outcomes, including tracking and database record-keeping.
- Working alongside Youth Workers within school settings to plan and deliver tailored employability support for young people.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of employment sectors and pre-employment training.
About you
The successful candidate for this role will have:
- Sound knowledge of the national and local policies including No One Left Behind, The Young Person’s Guarantee, the Local Employability Partnership, Training for work initiative, barriers people face to enter employment and the skills to support their development and ability to achieve goals.
- Experience of delivering employability support and training provisions for young people and adults.
- Experience working with young people and adults in the employability sector, supporting sustained progressions.
- An organised and systematic approach to monitoring and reporting.
- The ability to challenge, in a constructive manner, negative attitudes, motivating young people and adults with multiple barriers to employment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good knowledge of the employability landscape.
- Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access particularly for database-related work and report writing.
- An HNC or HND in a relevant field, or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
