Role

Forth Valley Sensory Centre (FVSC) is a unique, award-winning Charity based in Camelon. We cover the whole of Forth Valley providing a varied programme of high-quality activities, groups, and services for people of all ages with Sensory Loss.

We are seeking a Volunteer Co-ordinator to be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, arranging PVG checks and matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their interests and skills, e.g. volunteer driving, sighted guiding, activity assistant, etc. Many of our volunteering opportunities sit within our programme of groups and classes, which is delivered across Forth Valley and includes a choir, history group, arts and crafts group, book group, BSL classes, braille classes, a men’s group and many other sessions, all of which are tailored to the needs of participants.

The role also involves overseeing work-experience placements for students, providing updates to the Centre User Group, facilitating the volunteer onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring adherence to The Volunteer Charter, and conducting regular one-to-one sessions with all volunteers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records of volunteer availability, hours, skills, training and PVG status.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure that requests for volunteer input are met.
  • Produce a Volunteer Service report for inclusion in quarterly Centre Updates.
  • Produce a quarterly Volunteer Newsletter.
  • Undertake activities to publicly and privately thank Volunteers and recognise their contributions.
  • Use social media to support volunteer recruitment and promotion of The Centre and its Volunteer Service.
  • Regularly review volunteer policies and handbook to ensure they comply with current statutory and operational requirements.
  • Assist with other Centre events and activities as required

Person Specification:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences
  • Experience of providing training and inductions
  • Confident in the use of all Microsoft products
  • Confident social media user

BSL skills would be helpful. A willingness to learn BSL is required

Hours: There is flexibility within the working pattern as long as it meets the needs of the service. Applicants are encouraged to outline their availability and preferred working pattern. The Centre opens 0900h-1700h Monday to Friday and 0900h-1630h on Fridays.
