Role

This is a great opportunity for a new Participatory Practice Manager. This is a key role in leading the development and delivery of participatory, community-led and anti-racist practices within a university museum context.

The postholder will embed these approaches across collections, research, teaching and civic engagement, supporting effective engagement with multiple audiences and enabling more equitable, collaborative relationships with communities, particularly those historically under-represented or on the margins.

They are responsible for managing and sustaining a portfolio of participatory programmes and projects, contributing to the Hunterian’s strategic objectives and supporting meaningful long-term institutional change.

The Hunterian is the University of Glasgow’s Museum and Art Gallery. We are an ethical and accessible cultural institution, critically engaged with our historic legacy and committed to inclusive practice. Through our collections, expertise and partnerships, we support the University’s ambition to positively affect society and be a trusted, valued and inclusive civic organisation. The Hunterian offers a space for hosting dialogue, testing ideas, community participation and engagement in ways that complement and extend academic activity. Through our collections, programmes and partnerships, we act as a window into the University’s impact, by connecting scholarship with public-facing lived experience and public benefit. As part of this strategic commitment The Hunterian is looking to recruit a Participatory Practice Manager to build our sector leading participatory, anti-racist and community centered practice, further strengthening The Hunterian’s role as a civic and academic host.
