Role

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of the Cashback for Communities programme, working with young people aged 14–21. The post holder will engage, support and inspire young people through positive activities, helping them develop confidence, life skills, employability, wellbeing and resilience while encouraging positive choices and reducing involvement in antisocial behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organising and delivering engaging group work and one-to-one support sessions for young people aged 14–21.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, encouraging their participation and ongoing engagement in the programme.
• Support young people to identify personal goals and develop skills, confidence and aspirations.
• Deliver activities that promote health, wellbeing, teamwork, leadership and personal development.
• Support the recruitment and retention of participants, ensuring sessions are welcoming, inclusive and accessible.
• Work alongside partner agencies, schools and community organisations to support young people's needs.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and outcomes in line with programme requirements.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation by collecting feedback, case studies and evidence of impact.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all participants.
• Act as a positive role model, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
• Attend team meetings, training and supervision sessions as required.
• Support occasional evening or weekend activities where necessary.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience working with young people aged 14–21 in a youth work, community, education or similar setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds.
• Understanding of the challenges affecting young people and barriers to participation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
• Flexible and enthusiastic approach to supporting young people.

Desirable

• Youth Work qualification or relevant experience.
• Experience delivering employability, wellbeing, sports, arts or community-based programmes.
• Knowledge of the Cashback for Communities programme and its aims.
• First Aid qualification.
