Role

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. 

SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 2,500 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. SCMA provides a wide range of support and professional services for members including training and events as well as delivering local services.

We are recruiting a part-time Childminding Development Officer, to deliver an effective service to support all childminders in South Lanarkshire Council. You will have an understanding of childcare and childminding, the ability to identify and support training needs, as well as represent childminding locally.

The successful applicant will work alongside local authority partners such as Education and Early Years services, as well as third sector and family support organisations.

Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are required and working as part of a team isessential. You should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and highly developed written and oral communication skills.

Part-time 30 hrs per week, starting salary £27,278 (pro rata).

This post is fixed term, with funding secured until 31st March 2026 with a strong possibility of further extension. Please note this post is being advertised due to internal secondment.

This post is home-based but will require travel and attendance at meetings within the local authority area (including occasional travel to Head Office in Stirling).
