About Us

The Junction is an award-winning charity that supports and improves young people’s health and well-being.

We work with young people aged 12 – 21 in North East Edinburgh. Our vision is that all young people thrive, with access to the right support and resources that meet their health and wellbeing needs.

About The Role

The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of The Junction, supporting our aims, objectives and goals.

We currently hold 2-hour Board meetings four times per year, which you can join in-person or online. You will also have the opportunity to attend subgroups, informal meetings and team events.

About You

We are looking for committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is an incredible opportunity to make a difference to The Junction, to young people and to build your own skills.

We’d like to enhance our board to better reflect the diverse individuals and communities we work alongside, so we welcome applications from all backgrounds. We are working towards becoming an anti-racist organisation and are interested in applications from people who are Black, Asian or from minority ethnic communities.

Some examples of the experience or expertise you may bring include:

  • Experience of accountancy or the financial sector
  • Experience of working in the charitable sector including experience of youth work, working with young people, families and communities
  • Experience of IT / website development
  • Experience of HR or experience of managing and leading others
  • Experience of policy development of the law or legal advice.

You may bring different skills and strengths - most important is your willingness to ask questions, the ability to share and uphold our organisational values (inclusive, non-judgemental and collaborative) and having the time commitment for the role.

We also value applications from people who live the community in Leith/North East Edinburgh and/ or have lived or living experience of poverty, substance-use or poor mental health
