Role

Shore Psychology is the first social enterprise in Scotland with the mission to improve access to psychology over profit for shareholders. We understand the urgent and unmet need for accessible, trauma-informed and neuro-inclusive mental health support for marginalised and vulnerable segments of our communities.

Shore began trading in January 2025 and our services include psychological therapies, neurodevelopmental assessments for ADHD and autism, speech and language therapy, counselling, and play therapy. We also offer training and consultancy for organisations and teams. On the surface, Shore operates in a similar way to private practices where self-employed qualified clinicians deliver services to improve clients’ mental health and wellbeing. However, all surplus from fee-paying services is used to provide therapy and assessments for those most at risk of trauma reactions through our two local charity partners. We also provide trauma training for their staff, so they are equipped to identify trauma reactions in their service users.

This is an exciting time to join Shore. We opened our doors in January 2025 and have recently been nominated in the ‘One to Watch’ category by Social Enterprise Awards Scotland 2025. The postholder will be part of a small, supportive and highly effective team (currently CEO, Clinical Lead, Operations Manager and self-employed associates), helping to shape the future of our practice.

Purpose of the role

The Assistant Psychologist will work closely with the management team to support and enhance the delivery of psychological therapies and assessments with clients and beneficiaries. Where appropriate, the postholder will provide psychological assessments and interventions under the clinical supervision of the Clinical Lead, and within the overall framework of Shore’s policies and procedures. The postholder will provide support with clinically-related administration including gathering of statistics, minuting multi-disciplinary meetings (MDTs) and support and supervision meetings, gathering psychometric data for neurodevelopmental assessments, conducting audits, and monitoring the progress of neurodevelopmental assessments. They will support the Clinical Lead in developing training for clinical associates and our charity partners, and help with other exciting projects as we develop our social enterprise. The postholder will also be required to support with general operational and administrative duties, including reception cover.

Additional information

The post holder will work from our clinic at 2 Sandport Place in the Shore area of Leith. There may be occasional opportunities to work from home.

Equality, inclusion and accessibility are at the heart of Shore’s model. We welcome applications from people who are neurodivergent, have lived experience, BAME people and other under-represented communities.

Please note that you must already be eligible to work in the UK to be employed by Shore Psychology.
