- Remote: This post is home based with weekly online team meetings, but will occasionally require attending events/conferences pertaining to our campaigns

- 15 hours per week to start at £15.50/hr. Hours can be worked flexibly provided the requirements of ongoing campaigns are met and in agreement with work colleagues, making availability for specific events in line with advancing our campaigns. These may be during weekends. Prospect of salary raise after 1 year.

Role
Animal Concern is a small charity that campaigns to improve the welfare of animals, with a specific focus on implementing, improving and changing legislation, and is looking for a part-time campaigner based in or around Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Potential for full time.
The successful candidate will:
- Be knowledgeable of animal welfare issues.
- Be passionate about improving animal welfare.
- Be knowledgeable about politics and government petitions.
- Be able to engage with MSPs.
- Have experience in campaigning and/or thinking strategically about how to make change happen.
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
- Emotionally intelligent with good communication, people skills, and a friendly and professional manner.
- High literacy and engaging writing ability.
- Work well in a team and independently.
- Have good research skills.
- Be able to travel and attend relevant events.
- Be comfortable speaking publicly about campaigns.
- Be familiar with writing press releases, editorials, and giving quotes to the press.
- Good outreach/promotional skills using social media and other tools.
What you can expect: As part-time campaigner you will work closely and in collaboration with our Executive Director, to advance our current campaigns and help identify other animal welfare concerns requiring attention.
Campaigning involves a lot of research, writing, as well as strategic and creative thinking to best advocate for the causes we take on.
Being aware that the sometimes horrific treatment experienced by animals can be distressing, campaigners must be prepared to face this. Staff are encouraged to support and motivate each other to implement changes wherever possible.
