Role

Action on Smoking and Health Scotland (ASH Scotland) is the independent Scottish health charity working for a Scotland free from the harm and inequality caused by tobacco.

Statistics show that in our most hard-pressed communities, a huge 32% of people smoke (compared to 6% in more affluent areas), which means we have to get smarter in how we tackle health inequalities.

With new legislation and a refreshed tobacco control strategy fast approaching, you will have the opportunity to research, engage and shape initiatives that can make a difference in reducing tobacco’s pervasiveness in Scotland and on its people.

Our workplan has a greater emphasis in taking forward the next steps in building smoke- and aerosol-free environments, protecting workers from the dangers of second-hand smoke and putting the health and wellbeing of children and young people at the heart of our proposals to government. Ensuring equality, diversity and social inclusion is central in our work, gives ASH Scotland the edge in pioneering engagement and public advocacy.

You will be great at project coordination, collaboration with partners, and have a flair for creating evidence-based materials. Given considerable autonomy, you will be a proactive, organised individual with strong communication, practical research and professional relationship management skills, ideally with experience in health or community outreach.
