Role
Are you passionate about empowering parents and building stronger communities? Parent Network Scotland (PNS) is looking for a creative, self-motivated individual to join our team and make a real impact across Scotland. This role focuses on genuine engagement, supporting our peer-led approach, and strengthening local partnerships. You’ll work alongside experienced facilitators to support parent group leaders through our unique Network meetings. If you have strong communication skills, know your way around social media, and enjoy community work, we’d love to hear from you. Some flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends is required, with a supportive environment where your contribution truly matters.
Main Statement of Responsibilities
As Family Engagement Officer at Parent Network Scotland (PNS), you’ll play a vital role in delivering our mission through meaningful, face-to-face engagement with families and professionals across Scotland. This dynamic and rewarding position involves planning and organising local events, coordinating partnership pop-up activities, and promoting our Scottish Parent Academy and wellbeing hubs. You'll work independently to meet agreed targets while also collaborating closely with staff and volunteers, ensuring our peer-led approach continues to thrive. Building Relationships
Nurturing and strengthening our existing partnerships is a key part of this role, while also exploring new opportunities to connect with individuals, organisations, and groups within the community. We're looking for someone who communicates with warmth and clarity, and who enjoys engaging with people from all walks of life. You’ll help us grow meaningful collaborations with partners, local businesses, and community-based organisations—creating new opportunities to further our mission and provide even better support to families across Scotland.
Analysis, Reporting and Documentation
This role involves reflecting on and evaluating activities as they happen, allowing for timely and responsive changes that better meet the needs of local families and communities. You'll gather feedback and work closely with the Parent Network Scotland team to help shape and improve how we deliver our services. Keeping clear and accurate records is important, as is monitoring and reporting on the progress of our partnership and engagement efforts. Your contribution will also support us in meeting key funding outcomes, ensuring we continue to grow and deliver meaningful impact.
Communication & Support
This role helps expand the support available to parents and families by strengthening our networks and building community resilience. You’ll support parent facilitators to grow in confidence and skills, while developing creative ways to engage—both in-person and through social media. With a clear and consistent voice, you'll communicate our aims and impact, help reach underrepresented communities, and support the rollout of our engagement and partnership plans.
Strategy, Learning & Relationships
You'll help shape and deliver a community engagement plan that supports continuous improvement and strengthens our presence in local communities. By staying open to learning and development, you’ll grow your credibility and influence among parents and carers. This role reports to the Operations Lead for Scotland and plays a key part in driving forward our mission through thoughtful, strategic engagement.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Relevant community development or similar qualification at senior level
- 3 years experience of parent/carer/family engagement
- Excellent communication and written skills and IT literate
- Confident communicator to a wide range of audiences especially parent/carers
- Experience in monitoring and reporting against set targets and outcomes
- Self motivator with ability to organise tasks and manage time effectively
- Friendly and reliable with a positive, helpful attitude
- Passionate about our aims and values
- Willingness to travel to outreach community hubs
