Closing 24 August 2025

Role

About CATH

CATH (Churches Action for the Homeless) has been supporting people across Perth & Kinross since 1991. Starting as a local response to rough sleeping, we’ve grown into a multi-service organisation supporting people through our Community Hub, Tayview House supported accommodation, Floating Housing Support, Adult Learning, Positive Pathways, On the Mend, and our much-loved charity shop.

At our core, we provide housing-related support, promote inclusion, and empower individuals to thrive—and our volunteers have always played a huge role in making this happen.

About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Volunteer Development Worker to lead, grow and support our vibrant volunteer community.

Whether it’s helping out in the charity shop, delivering creative workshops at On the Mend, or offering a warm welcome at the Community Hub—our volunteers are vital. This role is about ensuring their experience is as impactful for them as it is for us.

You’ll also support our ‘Ready, Steady, Volunteer’ programme—helping service users into their first volunteering placements as a stepping stone toward education or employment.

If you love working with people, building partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities, this could be your perfect role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CATH’s new volunteer strategy aligned with the Investing in Volunteers (IiV) Quality Standard
  • Create and promote diverse and inclusive volunteering roles across our projects
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, training, support, and recognition of volunteers
  • Support service users through the Ready, Steady, Volunteer programme
  • Collaborate with staff, corporate groups, and external partners to expand volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain accurate volunteering data and provide regular reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent CATH at local volunteer manager forums and networking events
  • Ensure compliance with volunteer policies and the Volunteer Charter
  • Coordinate volunteer celebrations and recognition events

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of CATH
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers
  • Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Competent in Microsoft 365 and general IT
  • Motivated, flexible, and passionate about empowering others

Desirable:

  • Experience developing a volunteer strategy
  • Confidence in collecting and using impact data
  • Experience of delivering programmes or initiatives

What We Offer

  • A supportive, inclusive, and purpose-driven working environment
  • Opportunities for development and professional growth
  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Making a real difference in people’s lives across Perth & Kinross
