Role

Since 1962 the National Autistic Society has been campaigning to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. In National Programmes we champion the rights and interests of autistic people and their families, making sure national policy and legislation to reflect their needs. We provide autism training and best practice services and want all autistic people to have access to services and support that fully meet their needs. We provide diagnostic services, training, accreditation, consultancy and conferences, designed to support all professionals and organisations.

Who we are looking for: 

We are looking for a dynamic person to lead, develop and deliver our programme of pre and post diagnostic support for autistic adults in Scotland.  

Funded via Inspiring Scotland the programme aims to support and empower autistic people by deepening their understanding of autism and autistic identity, improving wellbeing, and fostering peer connections. 

You will be part of the Programmes Team, who deliver a diverse range of projects that support and empower autistic people across Scotland. As part of the team you will work collaboratively to design, deliver and evaluate high quality person-centred programmes. 

To achieve success in this role you should have experience of the following: - 

  • Programme/Project management skills. 
  • Recruitment of staff. 
  • Volunteer recruitment skills 
  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector. 
  • Fundraising or working directly with funders 
  • Delivering programmatic group work and 1-2-1 sessions (online and in person) 
  • Evaluating projects. 
  • Working with external partners. 
  • Reporting to internal management and external funders. 

To be successful, you will have good communication skills and have strong leadership qualities. Be educated to at least university degree level in an appropriate discipline or proven track record in the field. (at least 3 years) 

We value lived experience and deliver projects by and for autistic people. We particularly welcome applications from autistic individuals. (including those with a formal diagnosis or who self-identify). 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to deliver a short 10-minute presentation as part of the interview process.

Where you will be working: 

This is a home-based role with occasional travel to Glasgow for group delivery and meetings. 

Some work may be carried out in the evening. Administration can be during the day and flexible by arrangement.
