Are you a woman with lived experience of recovery from addiction who is passionate about supporting others on their journey?

If so, this role may be for you!

About the service

Cyrenians are opening an exciting new 4-bedroomed recovery house for women leaving rehab and are looking for a dedicated Female Peer Worker to help shape and deliver this vital service. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the foundation of a new project that will provide safe, supportive accommodation to women as they rebuild their lives in recovery.

About the role

As a Peer Worker, you will use your lived experience of recovery to foster hope, build trust and empower women to move forward. You’ll offer one-to-one and group-based peer support, helping residents develop the practical, emotional and social skills they need for sustainable recovery and permanent housing.

This is a person-centred role, where your insight and empathy can truly make a difference. You will work closely with residents to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes health, wellbeing and self-belief. As part of this role you will:

  • support the women to access health, housing and wellbeing services.
  • be expected to always uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Be required to participate in training and continuous development

About you

We are looking for a proactive and passionate person with lived experience of recovery. We are looking for someone who:

  • Is confident in their own recovery journey with strong links within the recovery community
  • Understands the barriers women face when leaving rehab and navigating recovery
  • Is reliable and has excellent communication skills

(Under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 only women are eligible to apply.)

How we’ll support you

You’ll be part of an experienced, knowledgeable team, with a supportive manager, who will help you develop and grow in your role. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning programme, and staff wellbeing services.
