About Dumfries Family Support Services

Our Dumfries and Galloway Services provide support to young people and families throughout Dumfries and Galloway. Our support works alongside families using a strengths based approach within the community and families homes.  This post will work with the Service Manager to support all our services within Dumfries and Galloway. 

Intensive Family Support

We help children, young people and families who are struggling to manage the challenges of day to life. They be affected by a range of issues, including drug and alcohol use. We support children from birth, and work alongside whole families. We offer support which builds on existing strengths and interests, helping families find their own solutions and make new community connections. 

What we are looking for.... 

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Service Manager to join our team. You will work 37.5 hours per week, although you will be supporting the management of the service you will be expected to carry your own caseload. This post will be based between Stranraer and Dumfries, supporting families throughout the Dumfries and Galloway area. This post is initially offered on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2027, however we are actively seeking further funding to allow us to extend this contract.  

We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring our young people live their best lives and have opportunities to develop and grow. We are looking for someone who will contribute to the leadership, management and development of the service for children, young people and their families in line with agreed objectives and assist with service review and evaluation. You will hold a caseload and work alongside families, empowering them to lead positive change in their own lives.

We are looking for candidates who are experienced in working alongside vulnerable families to assess strengths and needs as well as plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and strategies which enable families to thrive. You will have experience of child and adult protection issues. You Ideally you will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 8 or above, together with relevant experience of working directly with children or young people and their families.
