Role

This position is in our Volunteer Development Team that is part of a wider team at Citizens Advice Scotland, the Network Services. 

The Network services team provides advice and support to Trustees and Managers across the bureaux Network about strategic and operational matters. The team covers a range of subjects from board induction to safeguarding and everything in between, they attend board meetings, support with business plans and innovation and direct bureaux where needed to Citizens Advice Scotland colleagues for other areas of bureaux work. 

The Volunteer Development Team was a newly developed team in October 2023, funded by the National Lottery, and is responsible for providing support to the Network with volunteering, this role provides a fabulous opportunity to be part of a team that makes a real difference to people’s lives every day, enabling local communities to be part of a community service. This position will be managed by our Volunteer Support Manager. 

The Volunteer Development officer will support our vision of being a volunteer led Network. Responsible for developing a range of learning, systems and resources identified through our volunteer strategy and through collaboration with others. 

The overarching aims of the role is to support the bureaux Network to:

  • recruit, retain and support diverse volunteer roles
  • embed a future proofed model to volunteering that increases a range of accessible volunteer opportunities
  • attract a more diverse range of volunteers, to support the network to continue their work to be an inclusive volunteer network 
  • ensure volunteers are supported to have the best experience. 

The postholder will lead and contribute to areas of development that includes resources and opportunities to support with recruitment, retention, and well-being of volunteers. In collaboration with CAS colleagues and the Volunteer Development Team you will ensure regular and accessible communication is shared across the Network. You will engage with external partners and support and/or lead facilitation at meetings, events, and workshops.
