Role

Community InfoSource (CIS) is seeking a Male West African Fieldworker to join our Outreach Delivery Team.

(This is a special case exception for men, as a genuine occupational qualification in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010).

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong community connections and a passion for empowering others. The role will involve delivering community workshops, group presentations, and gender based violence (GBV) workshops specifically targeting men, using relevant West African community languages to reach and engage participants effectively.

Working closely with the Outreach Delivery Manager, you will design and lead workshops tailored to the needs of asylum seekers and New Scots from West African backgrounds. The work will involve both one-off and ongoing group sessions, including awareness-raising around safety, rights, and accessing support.

You will also support wider project goals by collaborating with colleagues across the organisation and developing partnerships with external agencies and community groups. The role requires flexibility, cultural awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse communities.

The candidate must be able to work well with others in a small team, with a flexible schedule, and collaborate with other projects within our small charity as well as with external organisations.

We will guarantee an interview to anyone with lived experience of the asylum system who fulfils the essential criteria of the person specification, and we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for this position will be offered an interview.
