Role

Community InfoSource (CIS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Befriending Coordinator and Caseworker to join our team supporting asylum seekers and New Scots in Glasgow.

This role combines one-to-one casework support with coordinating a volunteer befriending service aimed at reducing isolation and improving wellbeing among newly arrived asylum seekers. You will lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer befrienders, and ensure that volunteers are well-supported in their roles and appropriately matched with clients.

Alongside this, you will provide basic casework support to individuals, while referring more complex cases to other caseworkers as needed. Where possible, you will communicate with clients in relevant community languages to ensure understanding, trust, and inclusive support.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both one-to-one support work and volunteer coordination, and who is confident working with people from diverse backgrounds. The ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and remain sensitive to the experiences of those seeking asylum is essential.

We will guarantee an interview to anyone with lived experience of the asylum system who fulfils the essential criteria of the person specification, and we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for this position will be offered an interview.

This contract is subject to the successful completion of a six-month probationary period
