Role

About Disability Information Scotland

Disability Information Scotland is a national charity that provides accessible information and signposting to disabled people across Scotland, as well as to their families, carers, and professionals. We offer support through our helpline, online guides, the Scottish Disability Directory, social media, and training. Our mission is to help disabled people access their rights and overcome barriers in society.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Information Line Advisor to deliver high-quality support via our helpline (phone, email, webform, text). You’ll assess callers’ needs, provide tailored information and signposting, and contribute to the development of our public resources. You will also play a role in improving and expanding our information guides and directory, informed by real-world enquiries.

What We’re Looking For

You should have:

  • Experience providing information or advice via telephone or email
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with empathy and professionalism
  • Knowledge of issues affecting disabled people in Scotland
  • Strong IT and research skills, with confidence using systems such as CRMs
  • The ability to support vulnerable clients in a calm, respectful manner
  • Desirable attributes include experience writing accessible public information, understanding social security and social care systems, and interest in disability policy.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to support meaningful work that improves lives across Scotland.

We actively welcome applications from disabled people and guarantee interviews to candidates who meet 60% of the essential criteria.
