Play Therapy Base supports children aged 3-14 years and their families living in the Lothians. Play Therapy is a special way for children to learn about their world through using toys. Some children choose to explore things they find hard, or that are worrying them, through play. For some it is a chance to practise skills of sharing and turn-taking so they can build new friendships. For other children play therapy sessions may provide a space to have time on their own without chaos or interruptions.

Play Therapy Base was founded in 2011 by four play therapists who identified a gap in child-centred play therapy provision in Midlothian. For 15 years we have supported children aged 3 to 14 and their families across the Lothians. We are now entering the next stage of our development, with a restructure of our senior team. This has created an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Play Therapist to join our team of 15 as Service Manager. As Service Manager, you will lead the delivery of our therapy services, working closely with children, parents, carers, staff, and partner organisations. You will make sure our child-centred ethos and high standards of practice run through everything we do and help promote the service across the communities we support. We are looking for someone who has: A professionally accredited Play Therapy qualification with BAPT/ PTUK or equivalent Registration with BAPT / PTUK or similar Substantial post-qualification experience as a Play Therapist Experience of managing and supporting a team A real passion for play therapy and a strong commitment to helping children and families grow and flourish together
