Seal Dunfermline
Charity registered in Scotland SC009294

Seal Dunfermline works to improve the lives and wellbeing of children and young people between the ages of 8 and 16 by building resilience and developing character strengths. It is a registered charity operating within West Fife from a base in Dunfermline. The project’s roots go back to the late 1970’s when it operated as the Seal Project. We have successfully supported young people for almost half a century making key interventions to help ensure positive futures and outcomes. Seal draws on the skills and talents of a small part-time staff team and local volunteers who give freely of their time. Working together, they focus on building character strengths to help children and young people develop resilience, confidence and self-esteem. Groups meet on a week day evening and members take part in structured outcome-based activities delivered within Seal House and in the local community. The project is supported by Fife Council and local groups and individuals within the West of Fife, notably Dunfermline Carnegie Rotary Club, whose members, for a number of years, have generously provided Seal with funds and support to undertake different activities, projects and improvements to our premises We are a small, focused charity with an important niche role responding to referrals from, for example, schools, social services, psychological services. In 2016 we formally became a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) changing our name to Seal Dunfermline.
